THE Pacific Endeavour 2019 Communications exercises has helped the Papua New Guinea Defence Force bridge gaps and improve their ability to develop better communication capabilities that could improve disaster responses in the country, head of the PNGDF says.
Brig Gen Gilbert Toropo at the closing of the Pacific Endeavour in Port Moresby on Friday said communications inter-operability was a key enabler in the success of humanitarian aid and disaster relief (HADR) operations and PNGDF had learnt a lot through the exercises.
Toropo said communications was difficult in PNG because of the nature of PNG geography and limited infrastructure to respond to HADR but such exercises helped bridge and improve their ability to develop better communication capability that could assist.
He said the 22 nations in the Indo-Pacific came together with a common purpose to improve their inter-operability through the multinational communication inter-operability programme.
The participants of the programme were certified at the official closing of the programme on Friday.
