CHRISTMAS operations have started in West New Britain, with police out on the streets in full force.
Provincial police commander Samson Siguyaru said operations started on Tuesday after people were informed in an awareness campaign.
People had been warned to celebrate Christmas peacefully at home and not on the streets.
The province had been unusually peaceful in the past few weeks as West New Britain was known for rowdiness during the festive season.
“Police are out on full force to ensure the festive season is trouble free,” he said.
Siguyaru said the people had not been affected by the recent political crisis.
