China, S. Korea give K122,000 each

MINISTER for Foreign Affairs and Immigration Ano Pala has conveyed the government’s appreciation to the governments of China and South Korea for donating US$50,000 (K121,792) each for relief supplies to disaster victims in the country.
He said the Chinese and South Korean governments’ financial help would be used to aid the recent landslide disaster victims at Tumbi, near the Hides gas projects, that claimed more than 25 lives as well as survivors and relatives of victims of the sinking of the mv Rabaul Queen.
He said the donations were presented to the Red Cross Society by the two countries’ ambassadors to PNG, Qiu Bohua and Whiejin Lee of China and South Korea respectively on Monday.
Senior government officials witnessed the presentation.
