IT has been a challenging first week of the Covid-19 state of emergency (SOE) for City Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) Group, says managing director.
Patel hopes there will be some movement of goods between provinces.
He said new supplies of masks, thermometers and hand sanitisers would arrive this week for City Pharmacy outlets.
CPL gets its supplies from Australia, India and China. “It has been a really challenging week, firstly people went into panic food buying, which has now subsided,” he said.
“Then there was various ambiguous and contradictory directives coming from the authorities, which again has improved. A lot of our outstation pharmacies are struggling due to inconsistent rules from various provinces, and our staff unable to come to work.”
Patel said CPL was trying its best to keep the doors open to service the people with basic healthcare needs in other centres of PNG.
He another problem the company was faced with was with farmers from Central who were struggling to bring in their produce.
