Don’t ask for allowances, says Kramer

National

PUBLIC servants who ask for high-risk allowance as the country tries to wade off the threat of the deadly coronavirus will be sacked, says Police Minister Bryan Kramer.
Kramer told a press conference on Wednesday that people should “ask what you can do for your country and not when you will get an allowance” in response to a speculation.
“We are in global financial crisis, we are in a global pandemic and that is affecting the Government’s cash-flow because
businesses are slowing down, private sector people are losing their jobs.
“I cannot see any reason whatsoever, where anyone would be silly enough to say they want risk allowances.
“So our health workers – everyday they work, nurses that work on the frontline so this attitude of “Mipla laikim kaikai em bai pinis now” (We want food must end now).”
“So this is a national issue, let’s ask what you can do for your country and not we want risk allowances.”
Kramer said he would be having a discussion with the prime minister and cabinet and would advise against it.

  • Your point is well taken Hon. BK. Just a point for your digestion. We have all other government department staff on paid leave while their colleagues in the essential services department such as health, police CIS, DF and others are risking their lives and that of their families working…do you think it would be fair on these public servants if they are not fairly compensated. Just a food for thought.

  • I suggest all MPs should be receiving 20% less salary. They won’t starve from such a little pay cut. And that 20% should be used to support all health workers at the front line. Now it’s the time for the parliamentarians to show that they have balls and are real leaders.

    • Good point…..ALL ‘HORRIBLE’ MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT SHOULD FORFEIT 20% OR MORE OF THEIR SALARIES PLUS SACRIFICE 50% OR MORE OF THEIR “TAX FREE” PERKS & PRIVILEGES.
Bryan Kramer would win more Nationwide hearts (& support) if he volunteers to take the first step.
Was he not the MP who First brought to light our MPs fortnightly salary packages + tax-free privileges whilst in the Opposition???

Any bets he will Not Do It!!!???

  • Yes, sack them. They are already well-paid and growing fat at the expense of the common people. Even the police and the military personnel shouldn’t be paid allowances. They are just lucky to have landed a job in the public service!

  • BK..You are correct…Those military/police & Health personals are sworn in to save lives and promised to serve this country regardless of how importance their risk allowance can be.

  • I support Yall Dulls comments. Public Servants in the front line State of Emergency do not need to be paid risk allowances. They have sworn an Oath prior to their employment and they have committed themselves to whole heartedly to serve their country in good or bad times. It is now the right time they will fulfill their Oaths. Its not a military war.. Its just an epidemic war so just relax and fight to save your self and your country. I think that will bring you lot more satisfaction in what you are putting up. I fully support BK.

  • You so call MPs and public servant are all feeding from the tax payers money , you don’t pay for water bill ,power bill ,house bill , driving around in government issued car which came out of tax payers money ,,why asking for allowance, you are paid every pay day and you MPs it’s about time you give back some thing to the people of this country now…..
