Juffa commends chiefs, leaders

Northern Governor Gary Juffa acknowledges that the chieftaincy system of his people has contributed to addressing law and order issues in the province.
Juffa made the remarks during his recent visit to Ambene village, Kokoda, in the company of Northern police commander Supt Michael Welly and acting provincial administrator Trevor Magei.
Juffa was invited to witness the surrender of murder suspects to police that was organised by village chiefs.
“In a normal circumstance, surrendering of criminals to police would not happen and does not happen although it may have happened in the past,” he said.
“People are beginning to live in harmony and listening and obeying instructions from their chiefs, which is a very good sign.”
