POMIO MP and shadow minister for Health and HIV/AIDS Elias Kapavore was sworn in yesterday as a member of the special parliamentary committee on public sector reform.
Committee chairman and Northern Governor Gary Juffa said Kapavore’s appointment affirmed the bipartisan approach that the Government had in working together to address public sector reforms.
“I welcome Kapavore who is a member of the Opposition,” Juffa said.
He added that another member of the committee, East Sepik Governor Allan Bird, was sworn in last week. Juffa said there was a K4.6 billion per annual blowout on spending for the public sector which the committee would address.
He said the special parliamentary committee’s role was to review the public sector comprising the public services, statutory organisations, State-owned entities, Government business arms and disciplined forces.
