AFTER 58 years of providing health services, the Braun Memorial Hospital in Finschhafen district, Morobe province, a Evangelical Lutheran church of Papua New Guinea-run institution, launched its new website last Friday. The church’s information technology officer who did not wanted to be named said the hospital served a rural population of 200,000 in Siassi, Kabwum, and Finschhafen districts. He said people could log onto www.braunmemorialhospital.org for more information. The hospital was established on Dec 15, 1958, by the Lutheran Mission, hospital administrator Joanna Kaku said. She said the website had updated information on hospital services, staff, contact information and the latest news. She said the hospital did not provide services to the three districts only as it got patients from other districts of Morobe who chose to go there.“The website will enable us to update our funding agencies and people in the country and abroad can see the positive work the hospital has been doing in the community,” she said. She said the Brown Health Foundation was the initiative of local people. She said the website contained information that aimed to: l Cater for all on-going maintenance and upgrading of items of critical medical equipment and materials;l Secure new medical equipment and materials, purchased or donated, through partnerships with local and international organisations; andl Fund critical and specialist patient care. Support health centres, sub-health centres and aid-posts on emergencies only.
