TICKETS for Digicel Cup fans in Port Moresby will go on sale at 9am tomorrow as spectators return to semi-professional rugby league from this weekend.
For fans in the Morobe capital, tickets will be sold at the Lae Rugby League ground when gates open at 10am on Sunday.
However, there are restricted numbers of tickets available for sale at both venues.
Papua New Guinea National Rugby League National Rugby League Competitions manager Ora Gairo, in a statement, said approval for the return of crowds was granted by the national Pandemic response controller on Tuesday.
“We have been allowed 30 per cent of the capacity these venues can accommodate in Port Moresby and Lae,” he said.
“After four rounds with no crowds, it is exciting for players and fans to enjoy our No.1 sport.”
Gairo said tickets for Saturday and Sunday’s double-headers in Port Moresby could be bought at the two Digicel kiosks at the Vision City Mega Mall, Digicel headquarters and the Oil Search National Football Stadium.
The ticket prices are K25 (grandstand), K20 (southwestern and northwestern stands) and K15 (eastern stand) with free admission for children under three years old.
Tickets will also be on sale at the stadium on game days.
Gates will open at 11am on Saturday and Sunday and entry will be through the gates opposite the Boroko Market.
“Tickets will show which games are being played on Saturday or Sunday, so choose carefully on which day to attend to support your favourite team,” Gairo said.
“All tickets will be scanned with lighters.”
He said everyone would go through temperature checks, sanitising and bag/body checks when entering the stadium.
“Security personnel will be on hand to carry out these checks and direct fans on which way to go to the stands as per their tickets,” Gairo said.
