Why are we silent on Bougainville’s move?

Letters

I REFER to the news report where Prime Minister James Marape and Bougainville President Ishmael Toroama agreed in Wabag that Bougainville would get independence in 2027.
What is the basis of ratifying the referendum result to grant them independence in 2027?
Is this done to serve personal political interest and sacrificing Papua New Guinea’s interests?
I do not see any justification whatsoever for Bougainville to get independence.
I am concerned about the complete silence by the PNG.
The Bougainville crisis, which started in 1988, was never a political war.
It was never started by politicians nor the North Solomon government who fought to secede from PNG.
Late Francis Ona fought against Bougainville Copper Ltd to save his bread and butter.
He fought against the miner for his personal interest when he was kicked out of the company.
The vast majority of the innocent Bougainville people did not support Ona’s rebel group to pursue a political agenda of Bougainville.
They feared for their lives. Bougainville people are under great fear imposed on them by the rebels.
Where has the Catholic church gone?
Where is the big brother’s role?
