BELDEN Namah says he will not accept any invitation by the grand coalition partners of Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to join them.He will continue to lobby for the top post, he said yesterday in a statement.
The Vanimo-Green MP said PNG and its people went into the national election looking for change which should look at fixing the wrongs of the past and
bring much needed reforms into the country.
“More importantly, PNG went into the 2012 national elections to bring change in the leadership of our country, a leadership that can advocate and champion change,” Namah said.
He said his PNG Party and other coalition parties will continue to fight to form the next government despite the invitation from O’Neill’s group.
He said many of the coalition partners which had pledged to support O’Neill to form the government had been accused of destroying the country in the past.
He will not team up with them for the interest of the people, he said.
“They will only suppress and marginalise the emergence of young and vibrant leaders of our country so I for one and my coalition will turn down the offer for the grand coalition from Mr O’Neill,” he said.
He said the battle for cleansing of the leadership was not his alone because what he was fighting for is for the future of PNG.He described the battle for the top post as the battle for the simple people of the nation and he would not rest until a good government was formed to serve the interest of the people and bring about much needed services.  “For too long since independence, we have seen leaders in our country who have taken a free ride on the suffering and grievance of the people.
“But this time I will fight for what they deserve as a free independent people,” said the MP.
He appealed to other young leaders recently elected to stand together with him and fight this battle.
