Guns, Stormers face the heat in Alotau basketball

ALOTAU basketball’s top of the table clash in the men’s and women’s divisions takes place on Sunday.
It will be the testing time for the competition leaders Guns (men) and Nasfund NCSL Stormers (women), who take on Fire Fox and Milne Bay Estate Rollers respectively.
Tabo Sida’s young Guns have a challenge facing defending champions Kila Lucas’ Fire Fox and Alotau basketball president Jack Osembo said the match was likely to go down to the wire with the in-form Guns relying on Junior Ben, Edward brothers Mark, John, Raymond and Jeremiah Prout for a win to maintain top spot.
“It won’t be an easy task for them (Guns) as Fire Fox is an established team in the competition and the new comers Guns will be given a thorough examination by their experienced opponents.”
In the women’s competition front runners Stormers and Rollers clash in the main encounter. Stormers’ Vele Israel, Babara Morvin, Moika Koime and former Miss PNG Genevie Roberts must contain Rollers’ Agatha Seta, Ruth Wesley and Dorothy Uwedo or face the prospect of chasing lead.
In the other women’s matches, City Pharmacy Ltd should walk over Cameron High, Mid Saints will test veterans Jokers and Masurina should stop Works.
For the men, Alen Magic to stop Works, Brothers up against Rollers and in the juniors Stormers face Cameron in the match of the afternoon in the Milne Bay capital.
