Plaza first venture for city: Parkop
THE K300million Rangeview Plaza investment by National Capital District (NCD) and its partners is the first for NCD to have ventured into major business investment, Governor Powes Parkop says.
He was speaking at the official opening of the plaza yesterday in Port Moresby.
“Opening of this Rangeview mall is one such step towards realising the bigger dream and all the possibilities available to us,” Parkop said.
“Today (yesterday) is also a milestone for NCDC (National Capital District Commission), our municipal government.
“It is the first time in which we have ventured into a major commercial and business investment on behalf of the commission and our city.
“I would like extend a very big thank you to the commissioners of our board and management of the city for allowing us to utilise the land for this great development.
This decision has enabled the commission and the city to be equity holders and will support NCDC to expand their revenue base.”
Nambawan Super Ltd (NSL) board chairman Reginald Monagi said the project had already provided jobs for more than 1,000 Papua New Guineans during the three-year construction period and is expected to create an additional 500 permanent jobs through the various retail outlets and its property management arm.
Spread over three levels, Rangeview Plaza houses a supermarket, food court, five restaurants, a medical clinic and specialist shops.
The precinct also covered a combined net area of 52,000 square metres consisting of 88 townhouses; recreational and retail amenities.
