STUDENTS attending Tambul High School in Western Highlands will no longer face difficulties with their night studies after they were given a new generator to provide electricity.

The school under headmaster James Pini bought the 150KVA generator for K128,000 to provide a consistent power supply.

The previous generator set, a 30KW, was used earlier by the two other High Schools in the province – Kitip and Kombolopa – before it was sold to Tambul.

The old generator has been facing technical problems and could not guarantee a reliable power supply.

Pini, who took over this year, said he felt sorry for the students because they often had to miss studies at night.

Electricians are working to install three power outlets so that the generator can supply the whole school.

“We will introduce computer class this year and I’m working to make sure we have the requirements in place so that Tambul High School can start enrolling Grade 11 next year.

He said Tambul had more than 900 students and was one of the premier high schools in the province.

He thanked the provincial education board and Governor Paias Wingti for making sure that quality education was provided in schools in the province.
