Total confusion

LACK of communication and preparation by staff of the National Soccer League office has thrown the mid-week clash yesterday into total confusion.
It also led to the cancellation of the games in Lae and Madang respectively.
The outstanding NSL matches between Besta United PNG and Tukoko University in Lae and Eastern Star against Niupetro Fox in Madang were cancelled yesterday because the hosts were not prepared.
Port Moresby-based Eastern Stars were supposed to fly to Madang for their game against hosts Madang Fox while Besta to meet University Lae.
All franchises, including Eastern Star were disappointed with the lack of preparation by NSL staff.
An Eastern Stars insider was shocked and disappointed with the NSL staff in the manner they ran the semi-professional competition.
The source said a clarification would be sought from the Eastern Stars FC board before writing to NSL to express their disappointment.
Attempts to contact Eastern Stars franchise owner Joe Ealedona were unsuccessful yesterday.
PNGFA media officer Daisy Bowada-Serum yesterday confirmed that NSL board had decided to cancel the two matches.
It is understood that the NSL chairman John Kapi-Natto was disappointed with his officers for the lack of preparation for the matches.
The NSL board wanted to get the two matches out of the way before the NSL challenge resumes on Saturday.
“The PNGFA and NSL office resume duties on Monday which only gave them a day to prepare for the mid-week clash.
That is impossible, therefore it was deferred to later date,” it was reported.
Mrs Bowada-Serum said the NSL matches would resume on Saturday with three matches in Port Moresby and Lae.
Hekari United will meet CMSS Tigers, University Inter take on Tukoko University and Eastern Stars play Gigira Laitepo Morobe in Port Moresby while Niupetro Fox clash with Besta PNG in Lae.
PNGFA competition manager Edward Tauloi said the matches were cancelled and would be scheduled for a later date.
