THE Motor Vehicles Insurance Ltd (MVIL) is expanding its operations to Jiwaka under a deal signed last Friday.

MVIL’s core business is to provide compulsory third party motor vehicle insurance cover to vehicle owners.

Vehicle registration is the responsibility of the provinces as required by law and it is an internal revenue source for them.

Under the deal, MVIL will set up a branch and manage the registration for the provincial government through two-in-one sticker system at its own expenses.

This would free the province of costs associated with vehicle listing.

MVIL said the revenue from the registration would be paid to the provincial government on a monthly basis.

The MVIL office will be located in the Minj district headquarters and will be open for business next month.

MVIL chief executive officer Joe Wemin said: “The board under the chairmanship of Dr Ken Ngangan and management under his stewardship is determined to support the government in providing services to the provinces.”

They are determined to position the company to participate effectively in nation building, Wemin said.

He said MVIL’s expansion to the provinces was a major part of its business plan this year.
