A SENIOR police officer has called for a full investigation into the activities of the Task Force Rausim Alien and the immigration section of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Immigration.

The officer, who was alleged to have been involved in a confrontation with members of the task force and immigration officers at the Jackson International Airport on Tuesday, said reports that he was fully armed and had used force to enter the departure lounge were not true.

“I was there with a restraining order to prevent the deportation of a small businessman and his helpless Papua New Guinea wife,” the officer told The National yesterday.

“I was not armed and neither did I use force.

“Earlier on, the man’s wife and I had approached Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister Rimbink Pato and he advised that we get a lawyer.

“This we did, and when we arrived at the airport with the restraining order, the plane was taxing out of the runway.

“I am available at anytime to be investigated for the alleged breaching of airport security and bypassing protocols.

“However, let me request that these investigations must cover all of us – Task Force Rausim Alien members and their team leader John Bria, immigration officials and other senior members of the Royal PNG Constabulary.

“When the truth is revealed, we will know who is at fault.

“When I open my mouth after June 19, everyone will come forward to sue the State.”

It takes more than guts for a single policeman to stand up against the rot of an entire organisation, the officer said.
