Kase: PNG needs support
The National, Tuesday November 5th, 2013
HEALTH Secretary Pascoe Kase says any overseas aid to the health sector is much needed.
He was welcoming the five-member Taiwan Mobile Medical Mission to the country for five days of eye operations and check-ups on patients at the Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae, Morobe.
“Our country is facing a lot of challenges in terms of shortage in manpower,” Kase said.
‘For specialist doctors and nurses to come is a bonus to our country.”
The team, consisting of two ophthalmologists (eye doctors), a technician, nurse and an administration officer arrived in Port Moresby on Sunday and travelled onto Lae.
The team is led by Professor Chang-Ping Lin, who has been coming here for the past four years. The four female members are project manager Wen-Chin Chao, optometrist Yiching Chen, nurse Teuyi Chiang and Doctor Chiehyin Cheng.
