INTERESTING matches are on the cards in Port Moresby men’s softball as the fight for the top five placing intensifies.

In the main clash on Sunday fourth placed Defence battle it out with Yokomo in what should be an entertaining encounter to cap off the weekend.

Gazelle have two very crucial matches with their wash out match Bears in the breakfast game and then come face to face with competition leaders United Brothers in the afternoon. The antelopes need to win the two matches to jump into the lead.

Unfortunately they have to work hard against the Grizzlies and United Brothers to realize the leadership.

That goes for Bears too if they want to improve their fifth standing on the competition ladder – a must win over Gazelle and Kopex respectively

Standings: United Brothers 22, Yokomo 19, Gazelle 19, Defence 18, Bears 17, Brown Eagles 12, PNG Power 11, Kopex 8, Wolves 9, Stingers 3 and Mantarays  0.

Defence have been quiet achievers and surprisingly are in third spot and the boys from Murray Barracks are in for the battle against a well recruited Yokomo outfit.

Yokomo with bulk of its players being former Madang representative players have begun on a strong note and no mercy should rule on the day.
