Maprik is not what it was a few years ago
The National, Friday February 7th, 2014
A FEW years ago, the township of Maprik in Central Sepik was accredited with tremendous development prospectus under the former MP for Maprik open.
Maprik was categorised as a rapidly growing town in PNG.
However, it is not the case today. In fact, it is quite the opposite.
The state of Maprik market is quite shocking and authorities need to do something to upgrade it.
The BSP Maprik branch was closed and remains closed for several years.
This has brought hardship to the people because they have to travel to Wewak to do banking.
I appeal to the BSP management and the local MP to consider bringing a BSP branch to Maprik.
The Maprik hospital is referring cases to Wewak which can be dealt with at the local hospital.
This is also causing a lot of difficulties and hardship to the people.
