Wewak Open MP Jim Simatab and his people from the Boikin-Dagua local level government have thanked Prime Minister Peter O’Neill for contributing K20,000 towards the funeral expenses of  the late Peter Donigi.

The money was delivered by Simatab to Donigi’s family in Port Moresby last week.

Simatab, the Correctional Service Minister, said they were thankful to the prime minister for being so generous in helping the family and the Arapesh people of Dagua during their time of grief.

Simatab donated K3,000 in Port Moresby and a further K1,000 in Wewak through his district staff.

A Wewak district vehicle was allocated to the family of the late Donigi to help with their preparation to receive the casket in Wewak and during the funeral.

The late Donigi, who was described by many as one of the country’s leading lawyers, died at the Port Moresby General Hospital on Jan 30.

He is survived by his wife Dianne and six daughters.
