MPs must cooperate, fix Nuku-Lumi road
The National, Thursday February 20th, 2014
IN Monday’s paper in the business column, there was a picture of the road from Nuku to Lumi, referred to as the Sepik Highway.
The road looks like a pig track.
I have not been there, but my village is in Seim of Nuku.
Since independence, our elected MPs have not done anything to fix the highway.
I would like to see the current MP from Nuku and Lumi working together and securing funding to upgrade this national highway with the help of the national government.
I have travelled around the country and noticed that most roads have been developed to a standard where at least a taxi or van can go.
The people of Nuku and Lumi depend heavily on commodities like cocoa and vanilla, and if roads are upgraded to a good condition, it will greatly benefit the village people to get their produce to markets.
