THE national general secretary of Papua New Guinea Teachers’ Association Ugwalubu Mowana yesterday said Union has not lost its way and is taking into account the lives of teachers and their families’ welfare.
At a news briefing,he said the statements made by former branch president Andrew Nuabo reported on both daily newspapers last Friday and yesterday respectively, were “all false” and motivated by political interest.
Mr Mowana further went on saying that he was no longer the president and that he was not a contributing financial member of the PNGTA and had no right to release any information for or on behalf of the PNGTA members and teachers.
“Mr Nuabo is one of those seven affected teachers and he himself should know very well that since 2006, PNGTA has been very supportive by having them on full salary and meeting all their legal expenses until now,” he said.
In regards to elections, he said the union had nothing to do with it under the Act; they are only there to support , adding that it is now in the hands of the Electoral Commission and Office of the Registrar.
“We have nothing to do with the election, but to support and implement the decision from the Electoral Commission,” Mr Nuabo said.
“It is up to them who will be doing the election decisions,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ketan Lawyers representing Mr Nuabo and the other six teachers at the National Court against the Teaching Service Commission for refusing to reinstate them, told The National yesterday that Justice Cannings has indicated an order to be handered down on Oct 5.
