Finals fever in POM soccer competition

TEN finals will be played in the Port Moresby Soccer Association competition at the Bisini Park this weekend.
The action will kick off at 10.30 tomorrow with the U19 boys qualifying final between Golo and Hohola United. The winners will face Etsu Mungkas next weekend. The losers will have another chance.
On Oval 2, the winners of the women’s first division preliminary final between POMSOE and Morobe Utd advance to the grand final. They will meet Bulolo Hard Rocks.
At 1pm, Post-Courier University will clash with Cosmos in the men’s elimination round and the women will take on NCMS Mungkas in the women’s preliminary final.
The University men’s team will be relying on PNG national players Alex Davani, Felix Bondaluk, Kelly Jampu and Michael Foster and the evergreen Steven Mali to lead their charge.
Cosmos, who have won their past seven matches including a 1-0 win over University on Sept 11 aren’t short of talent. They have match winners in Abraham Enoch, Fabian Bagi and Gari Moka.
University women have beaten Yamaros and Murat on penalty shoot-outs in their two finals. They will be under pressure to beat minor premiers Mungkas who were disposed of by Guria 2-0 last weekend.
University will be relying on Deslyn Siniu, Esther Kurabi, Janie Norrie and Linda Bunaga to lead their charge.
Coach John Davani will be looking for options to close down Mungkas goal-scoring matching Fatima Rama and Claire Tsuga.
At 3.30, Vats Ltd Yamaros clash with Rotek Momase in the men’s first division elimination final while POMSOE take on NCMS Mungkas in the men’s premier game.
In the premier division, POMSOE and Mungkas are evenly-matched, with a win each in their two encounters.
The outcome of the match could hinge on central defenders Cyril Muta for POMSOE and David Taro of Mungkas.
The winners will take on Yamaros and the losers clash with the winners of University and Cosmos match
