ELECTION problems can be easily alleviated through electronic processes, an Eastern Highlands veteran election manager says.
Jimmy Alwynn strongly pushed for an electronic system to be introduced for future elections.
“Electronic enrolment and electronic counting process will pave the way for people’s mandated leaders to be elected,” Alwynn told more than 2,000 people at the National Sports Institute counting venue yesterday.
He said getting fingerprints and voting through a “biometric” system would be the best way to get the best result.
Provincial returning officer Ikiso Kosanama said since the issue of writs, they had experienced peace and harmony through campaigning and polling.
He called for that momentum to be maintained during counting and declarations.
“Eastern Highlands was the last to poll but we are on target and are confident of finishing as scheduled,” he said.
“Counting for the nine seats will be conducted at their respective venues, with a tally at the central tally room.”
