‘Follow procedures to deal with complaints’

THE Business Council of Papua New Guinea is reminding stakehol­ders of procedures to deal with all legitimate complaints, following allegations of maladministration by candidates and officers involved in the 2012 general election.
The council called on the judiciary and the PNG Law Society to establish a process under the Alternative Dispute Resolution framework to review all preliminary claims of electoral maladministration as that could save the court’s time and resources.
Council president Ernie Gangloff said the issues faced in this election were not different from previous ones.
Gangloff said the council had witnessed the positive impact of social media in relaying election-related issues across the nation and to the global community.
He said the council was relieved the incoming government would not change major investment promotion policies.
“We look forward to working with the government to finalise a number of important documents, including the trade policy, SWF framework and SME policies to ensure economic development is not impeded in any way,” Gangloff said.
He said the council was looking forward to working with the incoming government in addressing business impediments and to finally achieve the goals set out in Vision 2050.
