THE late provincial police commander Supt Simon Nigi will be greatly missed in Jiwaka, according to businessman Ruman Joe Kuli.

Nigi, from East Sepik, was killed on Monday morning when the vehicle he was driving went off the road near the Sigiri Mountain.

A female passenger also died later in hospital.

Kuli, the Anglimp LLG leader, said the death came as a shock to people who were mourning the loss.

He said Nigi was a very hard-working person who had done a lot to maintain law and order in the new province.

Kuli told The National in Mt Hagen yesterday that it would be a huge task to replace a person like Nigi who had a unique management quality.

“Nigi was a good friend and we Jiwakans have lost one of the most important people in the province,” Kuli said.

He said as a new province, law and order was very important to the people and urged them to maintain peace until a replacement was named.
