POLICE and Papua New Guinea Defence Force soldiers have arrested 154 youths for damaging properties in Yonki government station, Ramu police station commander Insp Edward Alphonse says.
“Mobile squad policemen and soldiers retrieved the properties damaged by the youths,” he added.
Insp Alphonse said the suspects were detained in Ramu Police Station.
“Some government vehicles and the office were damaged.
“We are still investigating why the youths went on a rampage.
“Policemen are constantly patrolling the area to ensure that no one is hurt and to safeguard other properties,” he added.
Insp Alphonse said the damaged done was enormous and would be costly to repair.
