MORE than 200 people with 28 dogs participated in the annual Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) Paws Walk 2018 in Port Moresby yesterday.
This year’s RSPCA theme “Preventing cruelty to animals through community education and promoting and providing animal care and protection”, was in partnership with RSPCA in Australia for its Million Paws Walk 2018.
RSPCA general manger Helen White said the animal care campaign was for raising awareness on the importance of animals in our lives and health benefits gained from having animal friends.
“Not only by walking animals is a form of physical fitness exercise, animal pets can also help in reducing blood pressure by giving a sense of calmness and love in families so overall it’s a good thing to have pets in the family,” she said.
“They help families share their love with each other.”
RSPCA, in support of its education and adaptation programmes, held its inaugural Paws Walk in 2010.
This year RSPCA PNG aligned with RSPCA of Australia’s Million Paws Walk in hosting the 3.4km walk.
