FOUR local level government presidents from the Wau-Bulolo mining township in Morobe will be in Sydney this week for the 11th mining and petroleum conference.
They are Mathias Phillip, president of Mumeng LLG; Steven Sep, president of Buang LLG; Waka Diamond, president of Watut LLG and John Yawa, president of Wau Rural.
The delegates said they would be attending the conference with their MP Sam Basil “to learn what they can”.
Basil said this opportunity was to expose the leaders to what was happening around their country and especially in other mining towns that they could  use in their own LLGs.
He said the Wau-Bulolo area was  currently undergoing many mining changes and this conference was a good thing for the leaders to experience and come back with better knowledge on how to make use of their resources.
“Wafi is currently hot on the agenda and so is Hidden Valley, so whatever that will be said out there about us, we want to know and be part of, negotiate and support and be ready for whatever will happen,” he said.
