A 40-YEAR-OLD man facing 100 charges of forgery and uttering false documents in the Committal Court was read his charges yesterday.
Andrew Kina told Magistrate Danny Wakikura he understood the charges.
The case was adjourned to today.
Kina, employed as an events and festival officer by the National Cultural Commission (NCC), is alleged to have on Oct 5 forged the signature of NCC executive officer Steven Kilanda and printed it on 50 certificates belonging to clients in the Min Mama Bilum Festival.
He was alleged to have forged Kilanda’s signature and fraudulently uttered the documents (certificates) for Kenusep Dikam, Bunat Bisom, Edon Samfagasep, Litok Meneng, Nelson Mark, Dugunsep Migidop, Muniyok Tekerok, Derit Muli, Ps. Aninsep Itolbelok, Moses Ogesep, Saneng Kongavinok, Obert Konbos, Esther Maron, Makula Kasi, Beverly Konbos, Rose Bugufal, Senasim Kenusep, Sonet Joel, Hetha Natek, Nimun Obert, Glenda Ben, Bana Dugunsep, Naomi Bagamal, Uthy Api, Emma Mark, Itmop Eni, Bumin Eki, Masila Moses, Jeslyn Abela, Rose Magory, Nimbus Neklanengim, Roselyn Naphut, Metsimen Mothana, Hannah Aptimbus, Esther Desmond, Imbil Jim, Veronic Derok, Jessie Bong, Dianne Moses, Evella Sessie, Linda Tikson, Norma Kwetok, Jenny Litok, Joelyn Mrakus, Erit Bon, Livin Derit, Berick Eugine, Kenneth Emogal, Mafila Natek and Titus Dios-Peku Bruce.
He is alleged to have misappropriated payments for the certificates.
When he gave the certificates to the clients, they asked for the original certificates but he said they would be issued later.
A complaint was lodged and investigations revealed that Kilanda’s signature was allegedly forged on the certificates.
He was charged with 50 counts of forgery and 50 counts of uttering (false documents). He was later released on a K2,000 police bail.
