54-year-old man becomes 10th person to die from Covid-19

A 54-YEAR-OLD man from Yangoru in East Sepik has become the 10th person to die from the Covid-19 in the country.
A statement from the Covid-19 National Pandemic Response joint agency taskforce said the man died at the Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae on Feb 8.
He was admitted to the hospital on Jan 28 with fever, cough, chest pain and shortness of breath.
He was confirmed to have the coronavirus.
He had been suffering from hypertension for some time.
National Pandemic Response Controller David Manning sent his condolence to the family.
He said the man did the right thing by seeking help at the hospital. Manning urged people to continue to follow public health safety measures.
“At this stage, there is no cure for the Covid-19,” he said.
“The health workers can help care for you when you are sick but there is no treatment for it.” Manning said the surveillance team reported eight new cases taking the national total to 922 as of last Thursday.
He said one was from Morobe and seven from Western.
