6,000 teachers rated annually

OUT of 34,000 teachers nationwide, only 6,000 teachers are rated annually, according to the Education deputy secretary of standard Damien Rapese.
Mr Rapese said during the officially closing of the fifth Momase rating conference at the Jais Aben resort outside Madang town recently that of the 6,000 teachers who have been rated this year, more than 2,000 teachers were from the Momase region, making it the biggest number of teachers to be rated so far.
He said teachers could apply but only 6,000 teachers throughout the country could be assessed so they were promoted depending on their performances.
He said teachers who performed their duties in educating the children deserved to be assessed and promoted.
Meanwhile, New Guinea Island and Momase Regions will combined their sixth rating conference next year in Rabaul.
