MORE than 700 youths from around the country attended the Lutheran Reform’s national youth ministry crusade and talent show in Western Highlands.

It was held at Burr village near Kombolopa High School.

Youths came from Western Highlands, Southern Highlands Jiwaka, Chimbu and Madang.

The crusade ended last Friday with the theme “empowering the youths of today’s generation”.

Kumdi Kelbi-Roglomp councillor Runi Gip thanked the Lutheran Reform Church for making the crusade possible.

He said youths were the future leaders of tomorrow and urged churches and the government to involve them in spiritual activities.

He said the government should work with churches to help youths become productive citizens.

“Spiritual things that are imparted to them now will go a long way in shaping their future,” he said.

“If we look at their problems and address them, I think that law and order problem will decrease,” he said.

He said some youths roamed streets doing nothing and it was the responsibility of pastors to preach the gospel to them.

The crusade featured creative dancing, Bible sharing and dramas and were witnessed by businessman Wanis Pawa , evangelist Elizah Pau, National Youth chairman Pr Benjamin Bisop, national church secretary Pr Peter Oinde, senior pastor for Dei-Ramba Pr James Nigints and Jiwaka senior  pastor Jacob Israel.
