MORE than 700 women from the United Church are holding their eighth Women’s Prayer Convention this week in Rigo, Central.
Women’s president Henao Ani said women’s groups flew to Port Moresby last week for a week-long meeting at Saroa village.
She said women were the church of God because God lived in people.
“As a church of God, we have the hunger to see the work of God expand and spread over this land, over our lives and our families,” she said.
“That is why we are taking this week-long prayer convention.”
The theme for the convention is “Passion for harvest – experiencing God’s heartbeat for the lost”.
Ani said every church was driven by a passion to see souls converted to Christ.
“We also want to spread the word of God and see the people in Saroa Central changed.”
She said the convention was one of the bi-annual meetings women hold to talk about strengthening their faith.
The meeting is organised by the Saroa United Church and attended by wives of bishops, pastors, women leaders and ordinary women of the ministry.
More than 740 women left Port Moresby yesterday for the convention which starts today.
