HIRI Rugby League will officially launch its competition at the Konedobu Oval today.
Chairman Micky Kone confirmed yesterday that Kairuku-Hiri MP Peter Isoaimo, the major sponsor of the league, National Capital District Commission deputy city manager Honk Kiap and Motu-Koita Assembly executive Opao Udia will officiate at the launch.
The 12 teams expected to assemble at the oval in their colours are Gaire, Barakau, Tubusereia, Kouderika, Porebada, Lealea, Bogi, Kido, Gorohu, Hanuabada, Tatana and Roku.
Kone said the competition was privileged that Isoaimo continued to sponsor the league with additional assistance from NCDC social services and Motu-Koita Assembly.
“It is a true grassroots competition,” Kone said.
The fabulous Dee Jays band of Tubusereia village will provide entertainment at the launch.
