PNG Air last Wednesday night held a meet-and-greet cocktail party where it informed the Lae business community about developments within the airline.
PNG Air is 100 per cent owned by Papua New Guineans with Nasfund and Mineral Resources Development Company owning 90 per cent.
Chief commercial officer Paul Abbot said there had been many changes happening over the past three years.
One of the major ones is four return-services to Port Moresby daily and direct services to Madang, Hoskins and other destinations.
“The purpose of our visit today is to spend time with Lae business community and explain to them what we have done in terms of changing the airline,” Abott said.
“We have talked about introducing seven brand-new ATR aircraft and also talked about introducing Dash-8 freighters with freight support around the country.
“New lounges have been developed and particularly the one out at Nadzab for our corporate travelers to use.”
Abbott said the schedule supported Lae as a hub of important flights to New Guinea Islands and the Sepik provinces.
“We’re trying to make things easier and convenient for business people and the general public of Lae to travel around on our PNG Air services.
“Today was about just meeting the business people and asking them what other things they would like us to do in terms of changes to our products and services, or changes to our schedules.”
