Oil Search hears the call and gives Hamblin a helping hand

THE office of the Papua New Guinea Emergency Controller has bought medical equipment and supplies valued at over K2 million to support the Hela and Southern Highlands Provincial Health Authorities deliver essential health services.
Given the challenges of reaching remote areas, emergency controller Dr Bill Hamblin asked Oil Search and the Oil Search Foundation to use their logistical networks and technical expertise to distribute the assistance.
Through this cooperative approach the partners worked together to procure and transport X-ray machines, surgical equipment and supplies like bandages, gauze, dressing and disposable gloves.
Hamblin said that it was important to see that health services were maintained after the earthquake.
Many hospitals and health facilities were badly affected when medical equipment were damaged and supplies rtan out and difficult to replenish because of transportation challenges.
Hela health authority chief executive Dr James Kintwa said he was grateful for the support.
