Liquor shop a nuisance

Letters

I AM requesting the NCDC’s Trade and Liquor Licensing Division to visit a residential area at Gerehu Stage 2 (where Niugini Glass Company is located).
There, right at the corner of a road junction, they will find a liquor outlet that operates from Monday to Saturday until about 9pm.
We used to have a peaceful neighbourhood until this store started selling liquor and its customers started becoming a menace to our families and community.
Week in, week out young people get themselves drunk.
We have and continue to experience a lot of madness, including fighting on the street, swearing and all sorts of nuisance things from drunken people. It is everyday, it is disturbing and it is destroying our community.
We don’t object to this kind of business, as long as it is not located too close to residential properties and does not open late into the night.
This case in Gerehu is totally unacceptable.
The NCDC Trade and Liquor Licensing Division should send people to have a look.
