A TWO-day awareness meeting regarding the Bougainville referendum and peace agreement was held in Kokopo, East New Britain, at the weekend.
It was attended by more than 200 Bougainvilleans residing in the province. The awareness was aimed at educating Bougainvilleans residing outside of the island about the referendum, peace agreement and related developments. Bougainvillean MPs Timothy Masiu (South Bougainville) and Sam Akoitai (Central Bougainville) also attended the meeting.
Akoitai, who is a signatory to the Bougainville Peace Agreement, said the agreement was jointly created and must also be undertaken this same way.
