Education reforms reach remote areas

THE education reforms in Morobe will reach surrounding provinces, regardless of geographical limitations, political and administrative boundaries.
Education reform directorate director Haring Qoreka said this last week after visiting Gubayong village, ward 11 of Nayudo LLG in Raicoast district, Madang, on behalf of Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu.
He said one of the newly-established schools along the border of Madang and Morobe, Puyana Lutheran Primary School, would be registered under the Morobe education division, although it was in Madang.
“The Morobe governor wants every child living in the remote border areas to receive basic education like any other children in Morobe,” he said.
“We want education services to go to all the border villages.
“Education is important, because the world is changing. It’s changing fast and people need to be ready to embrace change.
“A good education will give children a better understanding of the changes that are happening.”
Qoreka said the inter-provincial border programme of Morobe was important in terms of providing services to remote areas because people along the borders have been neglected over the years.
“The programme has already started,” he said.
