Bayune Lutheran High set for secondary status

Education

Bayune Lutheran High school in Bulolo, Morobe, will take in its first grade 11 students in 2020 as it attains secondary status.
Bulolo education manager John Tjipet said the school was elevated to secondary level and would take in first grade 11 students in 2020.
It will be the second secondary school in Bulolo after Grace Memorial in Wau. “Bayune is overqualified for secondary status,” Tjipet said.
“It will become secondary as soon as new the Watut and Waria Valley high schools in Garaina come onboard after next year.
“It is in line with national and provincial education plan for all local government areas to have a high school.”
Tjiper said the new Watut and Buang high schools would be feeders to Bayune.
He said the school would be preparing next year to take in grade 11 the following year. Bayune principal Rev Christopher Elap said the school was currently level seven and would increase classes and number of teachers next year.
