Trukai customers told to be wary of scam

Trukai Industries Ltd has warned loyal customers and the public to be wary of a scam.
“We are trying to educate our customers and the general public on how to tell a scam phone call or a text message from a genuine one” said Trukai’s national marketing manager Maybellyn Fernandes.
She said Trukai’s corporate affairs division had put together scam-smart advertising during a media launch at Trukai head office in Gordon yesterday.
“There were lots of cash promotions given by Trukai and other organisations before,” Fernandes said.
“I think in previous years, some companies use mobile texts to let winners know they won. We now see that there have been an increase in scamming.”
Fernandez advised that a call from Trukai industries required the individual to visit the nearest Trukai office in person, present a valid photo ID and then went through the winner confirmation process to claim their prize.
Trukai is giving away cash prizes again this season through a nationwide consumer promotion and wants to protect its customers from scams.
General -manager for sales and marketing Andrew Daubney said the promotion was a way of Trukai saying “thank you” to its loyal roots consumers who purchased Roots medium-grain rice throughout the year.
