AN employee of the Buka Town Council told The National that the funding that the council receives from the Autonomous Bougainville Government, which is K476,000 annually, is not enough.
Insufficient funding was the reason rubbish in town had not been collected for two weeks.
The contractor that was engaged by the Buka Town Council to collect the rubbish stopped its operations due to non-payment.
The employee said numerous requests for funds to help with the town cleaning have been ignored.
