THE Bintangor Goroka Lahanis have named a 76-man train-on squad, as they begin preparations for their title defence in the Digicel Cup next season.
The squad were put together following the completion of the Simon Sia Super Nines tournament last week.
Tournament director Benji Filele confirmed that those selected were all from Eastern Highlands.
“The tournament was to identify rising rugby league talent,” Filele said.
“We have named our 76-man train-on squad.
“We will trim the number down to 28 during a fitness programme at the National Sports Institute (NSI) over the next couple of weeks.”
Filele said the players were to meet at NSI at 12pm on Jan 7 to begin preparations for their Digicel Cup campaign.
“All the positions are not locked down by the existing Bintangor Lahanis players,” he said.
“They are up for grabs.
“The best player in any position will occupy that role.”
He challenged the players to maintain their discipline and be punctual to show that they were serious about building a career in the Digicel Cup.
