Law firm offers help for PNG students

THE global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is again offering scholarships for law students this year.
The scholarship provides the recipient with up to K10,000 in payments and reimbursements for major costs related to their study and to reward high achievement in the final year of study.
Norton Rose Fulbright created the scholarship in 2017 to support PNG law students in undergraduate study.
A judging committee will review the applications to determine which best addressed the topic of an essay on the following question: “Checks and balances are the core of the rule of law and uphold the separation of powers because they ensure accountability by the legislature, the judiciary and the executive.
“However, if the Supreme Court and the parliament are in conflict, which prevails and why?”
The committee will also assess which applications demonstrated Norton Rose Fulbright’s business principles of quality, unity and integrity.
Applications close at 5pm on March 28.
Applicants should be citizens of PNG, enrolled in an undergraduate degree at a recognised law school, have completed the first three years of fulltime study (or part-time equivalent) in the degree, and are continuing these studies this year.
