Western welcomes Singapore court ruling

NORTH Fly MP James Donald says the people of Western welcome the ruling by the High Court in Singapore favouring the PNG Sustainable Development Programme (PNGSDP).
The case was about a bid by the Government to have control over the PNG Sustainable Development Programme assets.
Donald said the PNGSDP had been delivering projects quickly and efficiently to the people, and partnering the provincial government in strengthening the health system by sponsoring Marie Stopes (family planning), World Vision (community hygiene); Rotarians against Malaria and clean water infrastructure for Daru and North Fly.
“Soon they (PNGSDP) will have health patrols by air to complement the rural health services,” he said. “In education, they are providing scholarships, project school fees, rebuilding infrastructure in 42 schools, funding an e-learning initiative which will use modern technology to support teachers, students and parents in 80 schools.”
Donald said the PNG Sustainable Development Program had also funded the Fode campus which had just enrolled 105 students. The PNG Sustainable Development Program also funded the rehabilitation and maintenance of 70 airstrips in the province.
“It has also funded an upgrade of the telecommunications network (maintenance, new towers, broader coverage and vastly improved 4G technology),” he said.
“And it is also about to launch a new banking system delivered over mobile phones using 4G technology.”
