Refugees in Manus

Letters

NO more detention centre in Manus, says Morrison (The National, July 24).
Is that a myth or reality? Can we have an independent appraisal? And, why is the Australian PM Scott Morrison pictured with a huge smile on his face?
Does he have any idea of the human misery suffered by the refugees left in limbo in Manus?
If he did he wouldn’t be smiling.
In Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird the first thing Atticus explains to Scout is to put yourself in other people’s shoes:
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it”.
Has Morrison ever taken any time to do that to understand the predicament of the refugees languishing in Australia’s off shore detention camps?
