MANUS police commander Alex N’drasal is warning all local coastal islanders to take heed of the weather and strong wind warning from the National Weather Service Bureau.
N’drasal said such warnings must be taken heed of by seafarers from outer lying islands travelling to the mainland.
He said he had issued warnings before and after New Year’s Eve for people to be wary of the strong south-easterly winds of up to 20 knots during the weekend.
He confirmed the first recent tragic boat incident by Lou Islanders that claimed three lives.
He said three-year-old Wayne Nako and 23-month-old sister Angeline Soa Sevua lost their lives along with their uncle, Gibson Austrai, a former soldier.
