THE International Training Institute (ITI)’s 54th graduation on Friday saw 294 students receive various degrees and diplomas with one student claiming the principal’s award based on excellence in leadership.
Milton Neinguma, 32, who graduated with an advanced diploma in accounting, was awarded the principal’s award and K500 at the ceremony at the Foursquare church in Gabutu, Port Moresby.
The Kubalia, East Sepik, native said he was always keen to take the initiative in school-organised activities and helped faced challenges with the school staff and administration, because he knew that the school’s failure or success would be his, so he had to contribute as he had the passion for leadership.
Neinguma said establishing good relationships with lecturers and his fellow students help him achieve his goals.
“As an elder in a SDA church, I am a spokesperson so I have used that skill and experience to coordinate students during public school events, which I enjoyed doing,” he said.
He said being recognised for his efforts in extra-curricular activities was a humbling experience.
Nienguma said he hoped to eventually become a registered certified practicing accountant (CPA).
ITI also announced the awarding of scholarships to selected schools in the city as part of its programme.
